Black Rose Witchcraft Stands With Families

2018-06-19T15:43:25+00:00By |

"Ye who are poor suffer with hunger keen, And toll in wretchedness, and suffer too Full oft imprisonment; yet with it all Ye have a soul, and for your sufferings Ye shall be happy in the other world, But ill the fate of all who do ye wrong!" —Aradia, Gospel of the Witches Stop Separating Immigrant Families Press Conference and Rally Chicago Illinois 6-5-18. Black Rose Witchcraft wishes to express outrage and concern regarding the current United States government policy which cruelly separates immigrant children from their families. We affirm the human rights of each and every individual regardless of any class or status, full stop. Country of origin, sex, gender, race, religion, age, physical or mental ability, or economic status cannot be allowed to determine whether or not someone should be treated with compassion and respect. To deny these people basic dignity is a violation of international [...]

Website Updates

2017-07-08T23:54:09+00:00By |Tags: , |

We have been working hard to improve the site and try to stamp out some of those bugs that have been reported. I am happy to report that today we have come a long way toward making the site easier for you to use, especially for mobile users. Mobile users should now be able to access the main menu without any interruptions (previously an admin bar was accidentally placed over this mobile access area) and we have also restored the class-specific menus both for mobile and desktop users. Now you should be able to navigate properly. As always, if anyone is having any trouble please send Chas, Devin, or myself a private message and we will look into it.

The Black Heart is the Crown

2017-12-01T17:40:29+00:00By |Tags: |

The Black Heart of Innocence is something of a ‘holy grail’ in F(a)eri(e) tradition. It is a symbol in our Craft that is said to be the natural state of the soul, unfettered by societal conditioning. In Feri we understand this natural state to be sexual because, in our understanding, everything begins (and ends!) with sex. (Insert Iron Pentacle reference here.) Sex is opening to life-force; the animating principle that in living beings tends to be expressed in a sexual way. Desire that inspires action… Life opening to life, merging with life, to create something greater than the simple sum of its parts. When we open to life-force we are soon confronted with our own complexes and fears… all the things that we have spent so much time and energy trying to bury. When this comes to the surface this often leads to bad feelings and judgements about others since [...]

Open Your Eyes: A Spell to Dispel Illusion and Give Clear Sight

2017-12-01T17:40:29+00:00By |Tags: |

“Oh, she is such a fake. I wish more people could see through her beauty and charm and see the viper she really is.” “I don’t know what she sees in him; he’s obviously taking advantage of her. If only she’d open her eyes and see.” Sometimes don’t you just wish that they could see through the glamour? Cleverly and skillfully it has woven around the motives and actions of someone who is not what they present themselves to be. It could be a family member, so in love with someone who would use them selfishly… or it could be a co-worker who is always able to place the blame elsewhere for their own faults and yet come across smelling like roses. Perhaps it’s the lazy boyfriend who –despite being mean and condescending to his mate– is able to get her to do everything for him. Or maybe it’s the woman who lures [...]

The Water Cleansing (or, “Kala Rite”)

2017-12-01T17:40:30+00:00By |Tags: , |

The Water Cleansing (or, “Kala Rite”) A Faery Ritual of Purification {Black Rose Class Excerpt} By Storm Faerywolf The Water Cleansing, or “Kala rite” is arguably one of the most important pieces of Faery tradition practice. From the Hawaiian word meaning “to loosen, untie, or absolve” this simple ritual provides us with an opportunity to transform negative energies and blockages within ourselves, as well as to reclaim the power that these blocks have “tied up” within our energy bodies.   Simple Version Items needed: A glass of clear, fresh water Ground and Center. Perform a Three Souls Alignment. Recall something that you wish to be free of… a bad habit, negative trait, a fear, a bad relationship, etc. Allow yourself to really feel the presence of this thing, along with any emotions that may be attached to it. As you continue your meditative breathing allow these sensations to build within [...]

The Supper of Samhain: Honoring the Ancestors of Our Lives and Craft

2017-12-01T17:40:30+00:00By |Tags: , |

Samhain (pronounced, “SOW-in”) is a Gaelic festival which celebrates the end of the harvest season as well as a descent into the dark half of the year. Literally meaning “Summer’s End”, Samhain is the Celtic New Year, and one of the two “Gates” or “Hinges” of the Celtic year, the other being Beltane. In modern times it has become the festival of Halloween (“All Hallow’s Eve”) and is often considered the highest holy day of the witches’ calendar. In Black Rose we generally celebrate the holiday on the astrological date, marked when the sun enters 15° Scorpio. Metaphysically this celebration teaches us that the “veil” that exists between the world of the living and the dead is at its thinnest during this time, which accounts for the holiday’s association with spirits and the dead. This is a time to remember the ancestors, upon whose shoulders we stand. The ancestors that [...]

Talisman of the Dark Equinox: A Celebration of Autumn-tide

2017-12-01T17:40:30+00:00By |Tags: , |

By Devin Hunter and Storm Faerywolf The autumnal equinox marks a shift of power from that of the world of the living and beginning a slow descent into resonance with the realm of the ancestors. At this time many traditions celebrate the descent of the Goddess into the Underworld such as in the myths of Inanna or Persephone where she will begin a series of trials that will culminate in the creation of life from death. Also called “Harvest Home”,  another name for this holiday is “Mabon” and refers to a male Welsh deity later adopted into Arthurian legend. On the Neo-Pagan agricultural wheel of the year this holiday celebrates the “second harvest”, and the awareness of the need to share one’s bounty with the community to better fare the winter months. In Black Rose Witchcraft we celebrate the eight Neo-Pagan Sabbats during their astrological occurrence and this year Mabon [...]
