Having completed by book and various other projects I have recently refocused my attention to updating the Academy. Some of this is cosmetic, such as new sidebars (now with links that actually work), and the general look of things. Beyond that, I wanted to let everyone know in brief what has been evolving around her, and what can be expected. The Formulary page has changed. Back when the academy was a Ning site, it had hosted a good number of recipes. When we switched to this site I found the task of recreating the formulary to be daunting, especially given the limits of our theme. Therefore, our formulary has been less than stellar here, which I have taken the steps towards changing, finally. I have plenty of recipes to post, and hope to be adding an average of three new ones per week. Another thing I plan to update in kind is our new Mystic Dream Dictionary. This project seemed like a no brainer, since the word ‘dream’ is in our very name. I’ve always had a fascination for old Dream Books and Dictionaries. How it is that others interpret things fascinates me. I hope you all get something [...]
The spicy-flowery notes of Florida Water are complemented by sweet orange, lavender, and clove. Always promoted as a unisex scent, Florida Water can be used as a body splash, aftershave, skin toner, linen sprinkle, and so much more. Not as obtrusive or long-lasting as perfume or cologne, Florida Water is a light, refreshing tonic suitable for daily use. The cooling, soothing, refreshing properties of Florida Water are valuable in many applications. Perhaps the tonic nature of this cleansing scent promoted its use in various spiritual practices. It has a long tradition in various folk applications, from cooling aching feet and rubbing down aching muscles, to adding to bathing water, and to sprinkling about the home for a refreshing, “just-cleaned,” spiritually-elevated feeling. Some use Florida Water to refresh their heads, to cleanse their environment, and to cool the “atmosphere” in their homes. +++ Suggested by Grey Townsend From Fennerer’s Complete Formulary published in 1888: 4347. SPIRIT BOARDS AND HOW TO USE THEM For this month’s lesson on divination we will be looking at spirit boards, one of my favorite subjects, and appropriate following our last lesson on how to work with one’s ancestors. When it comes to reading the signs for this particular form of divination it couldn’t be easier, given that letters literally spell out the answer for you, making it one of the easiest form of soothsaying available. The ease with which it may be used is why it has remained popular for well over a century. Clearly, not all conjure workers use a spirit board, indeed, many are of the opinion that it is dangerous, an invitation to consort with devils. If this aspect of work does no appeal to you, then skip it; there will be several other methods of divination that we will explore throughout this course. I have spent the last decade designing and manufacturing talking-boards for my company Carnivalia, and long before then was an enthusiast of the Ouija, an admirer of its functional artistry and amateur folklorist of its legends and practices. Past articles that I have written on the subject have covered its history and [...]

As our academy continues to grow we are focusing and expanding the roles that help keep the cyber cogs turning, and ensure that your questions and requests for help are promptly addressed. Towards that purpose we have created the new role of Administrative Aide. We will introduce this latest addition to our team soon, but for now you may direct any of your messages to his office. In the upcoming days you will receive a friend request from him, please accept it so that you may message him here when need be. He may also be reached at email@example.com. Emails sent to other admin such as myself, Devin or Storm, will be forwarded to this new address and responded to from that office. Thank you for your attention, Chas Bogan
We have added a forum to be available to all members. Other forums remain class specific, but this new one should be of advantage to new students who have not yet learned how to access their class. For those who have joined the academy, but are not enrolled in a class, this forum provides a place for them as well. The new forum appears on the main menu above.
We have been working hard to improve the site and try to stamp out some of those bugs that have been reported. I am happy to report that today we have come a long way toward making the site easier for you to use, especially for mobile users. Mobile users should now be able to access the main menu without any interruptions (previously an admin bar was accidentally placed over this mobile access area) and we have also restored the class-specific menus both for mobile and desktop users. Now you should be able to navigate properly. As always, if anyone is having any trouble please send Chas, Devin, or myself a private message and we will look into it.
